Protesters heckle Farooq at slain trucker's residence | | | Early Times Report Anantnag, Oct 28: Former Chief Minister and National Conference patron, Farooq Abdullah, Wednesday was heckled by people at Anantnag where he had gone to condole the demise of a trucker, Zahid Rasool Bhat. Zahid succumbed to injuries after sustaining burn injuries following an attack by an irate mob at Udhampur district earlier this month. Reports said that men and women blocked the lane leading to Zahid's house and staged a demonstration. They said one among the women protesters attempted to hurl a stone on the cavalcade of NC Patron fallowing which deployed women police constables whisked them away. Eyewitness said that few women protesters apparently affiliated with ruling party chanted slogans against the senior Abdullah. In the meantime, some seniors of the locality intervened and pacified the protestors. A women protester identifying herself Zahda Akther accused Farooq Abdullah of politicizing the killing of trucker. "He is here to secure a political point and has forgotten that they themselves killed hundreds of innocents in 2010," Zahida told media outside the residence of slain youth. "You are killers of innocent people," she shouted. NC patron Dr. Farooq Abdullah who visited the residence of slain youth today was accompanied by senior party leaders Ali Mohammad Saga, Sakina Itoo, Nasir Aslam Wani, MLA Altaf Kaloo, MLA Abdul Majeed Larmi, MLC Dr. Bashir Veeri and others. Senior Abdullah expressed sympathy with the bereaved family, however avoided media interaction. Senior leaders in Anantnag district down played the reports of protest demonstration. |
