Jan expresses concern over frequent closure of Mughal Road | | | Early Times Report Poonch, Oct 28: Youth National Conference President Jammu Ajaz Jan on Wednesday expressed concern over frequent closure of the Mughal Road, saying its upkeep and upgradation needs top priority. In a statement, Jan said that the important road, connecting Jammu region with Kashmir, conceived by Sher-e-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah and inaugurated by Omar Abdullah during his tenure as Chief Minister, is getting least maintenance and upkeep, as a result of which it is rendered closed for the traffic during adverse weather conditions, thus causing inconvenience to commuters. He also expressed anguish over the intermittent closure of Sinthon road and occasionally Jammu-Srinagar Highway causing difficulties in vehicular movement and dispatch of supplies to Kashmir and other remote areas. The Provincial Youth National Conference President castigated the PDP-BJP Government for ignoring development and basic utility services. "The coalition is so intoxicated in power that development has become secondary while raking up controversies seems to be its only agenda", he said. He asked the government not to test the patience of people, who have started realizing the futility of giving the coalition a mandate, and instead concentrate on governance. He expressed concern over erratic power and water supply and said the ration ghats also sans adequate supplies especially in the far off and remote areas. |
