RTO organizes road safety awareness program | | | Early Times Report Kathua, Oct 28: An awareness programme on road safety was organized today by the Motor Vehicle Department Kathua, in Little Angels Hr. Sec. School, Kathua. On this occasion, debate on the theme Speed thrills but kills was organized in which twelve students from different classes participated. Skits on use of traffic signals and obeying traffic rules were also performed by the students. Anamika Bedi, Amit Pal Singh, and Sunidhi Sharma stood first, second and third respectively in the debate competition. RTO, Kathua Amarjeet Singh apprised the students that a number of precious lives are lost in road accidents every year worldwide. In India one accident takes place every minutes and one person dies in road accident every four minutes. He advised the students to follow the safety norms as district Kathua is witnessing the high accident rate on account of rash and negligent driving particularly on the national highway. On this occasion video clipping on road safety and safety norms in the school buses were shown, Banners and posters on use of helmets, seat belts, avoiding over- speeding and use of mobile phones during driving were displayed. Meanwhile, Motor Vehicle Department started the home delivery of driving licences as per commitment saying that 100 number of licences have already been dispatched through speed posts by Regional Transport Office Kathua. |
