Natrang stages 'Bakis' at Baramulla

BARAMULLA, Oct 28: The fourth play 'Bakis' of the Bhand Pather show series organised by Natrang with the support of Sangeet Natak Akademi was staged here today at Frestahar, Nihalpora, Baramulla. The play was written and directed by Ghulam Mohammad and presented by Katreshi Bhand Theare.
Interesting development is being witnessed in the presentation of Bhand Pather plays as the traditional performers in quest of incorporating contemporary themes are coming out with highly relevant themes reflecting the miseries of masses.
Today's play highlighted the problem of unemployment Kashmir is facing. Young aspiring youth despite putting all out efforts are not able to make their living in the absence of employment opportunities. The central character of the play comes from a poor family whose parents have taken huge loans to complete his studies and he has also been excelling throughout. But when it comes to his adjustment in some government jobs, he finds that his friends who have been average, performing poorly are seeking high positions just through unlawful means.
The era of corruption and nepotism has dislodged and disgraced the excellence of many like him. The boy continues to suffer but never leaves his convection of excelling in life sheer through merit and hard work. All friends enjoying luxuries through fraudulent means and make fun of him and keep prompting him the follow their way. He is further subjected rejection by the material trusty society but he is not ready to compromise on his principles.
Twisting a turn, the play showcases the inner frustration of all his friends who had attained riches and positions through unfair means. No one ever had the occasion to have sound sleep even once in life. On the contrary the hero of the play enjoyed the inner peace and satisfaction. His friends, one after the other gets trapped for their wrong doings and the hero finally succeed exposing all such monsters of the society.
The artists who performed in the play 'Wakh Chu Badlan' included Ghulam Mohammad Bhat, Zahoor Ahmed Bhat, Abdul Majeed BHat, Ghulam Hassan Bhat, Hilal Ahmed Bhat, Mohammad Sadiq Bhat, Ali Mohammad, Ghulam Mohammad, Ghulam Ahmed, Habubullah Bhat, Mohammad Amin Bhat, Mohammad Akbar Bhat, Gul Bhagat, Bashir Ahmed Bhagat, Ghulam Mohi-ud-din Bhagat, Mohammad Ameer Bhagat and Abdul Khaliq Bhagat.
