SMG's Dy Dir plays prince in luxury Govt vehicle | | | Ishtiyaq Ahmad Early Times Report Srinagar, Nov 23: Putting a huge burden on the state exchequer, State Motor Garage's princely life styled Deputy Director Kashmir is continuously misusing luxury government vehicle. As per the government rules, entitlement of government vehicles is limited to the ministers and the administrative secretaries. Sources said that there is wanton misuse of government vehicle bearing registration No JK01S, 0009, meant for high dignitaries, by this officer with excessive fuel consumption of at least 10 Ltrs of fuel every day. Earlier the Deputy Director without any government order was misusing the luxury Scorpio, bearing registration No JK02U-6666. Sources said that the unabated and unauthorized use of vehicle which can be gauged from the fact that the Deputy Director Kashmir State Motor Garages, Tahir Malik is using the vehicle without any permission of the government. "Even so many times the family of the officer has been seen misusing the government vehicle for shopping and other activities, sources said and added that even the Government order puts ban on non-duty journeys, which included pleasure trips, dropping children at school or going to places of entertainment. Sources said that not only the said officer there are many other officials of the rank of the Manager, Transport officers in the SMG who misuses official vehicles in violation of rules. "It is the duty of the government to take notice of such matters and ensure that no one gets more than his actual entitlement but it has miserably failed to perform this duty, sources said. Sources also disclosed to Early Times that one luxury vehicle of the SMG have been allotted to the vigilance officer for his personal use. If sources are to be believed then one of the Engineers of Vigilance has been allotted the Ambassador Car along with the driver. "The driver has the duty to pick and drop the children of this officer to their school," source said. According to sources, there is enough evidence to suggest that the credit facilities of fuel at petrol Pump have been heavily abused by the Deputy Director and other officials of the department. Sources said that the government should ask the officials of the SMG to submit its invoices along with statements. "The department gives false entry in the lock book and shown dozen of liters of petroleum. The vehicles actually attached with officials in the Civil Secretariat draw fuel on false tours shown against each vehicle when the vehicles basically remain attached with the officials in the Civil Secretariat," sources said. Sources said that Tahir Malik being the Deputy Director SMG Kashmir has also unlawfully allotted vehicles to the many officers for their personal use. Fuel to each such vehicle is provided by the SMG on a baseless entry in the logbook of the vehicle," sources alleged. When contacted the officials of the Transport department they admitted that the department is misusing the government vehicles. "It is true that the vehicles are being misused by the officials of the SMG. But soon the government will take action in this regard. No one will be allowed to use the government vehicles without the proper order by the government," one of the senior officials of the transport department told early times. However, despite repeated attempts the Director as well as the deputy Director were not available for the comments. |
