Census operations rebuts UIDAI, puts Omar before Mufti | Aadhaar data jumble! | | Syed Junaid Hashmi Early Times Report jammu, Nov 24: Numbers don't up! Aadhaar card data available on the website of Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) updated upto November 14, 2015 is being strongly rebutted data compiled by Census Operations (CO) Jammu. An official of the Census Operations (CO) Jammu who for reasons best known to him preferred keeping his identity secret rang up Early Times and in an angry tone sought to dispute all the figures quoted by the newspaper in its story titled "J&K 'Aadhaar' woes, ranks 6th from bottom". He mailed as well as faxed the data available with his office while stressing that whatever data is available on the website of Unique Identification Authority of India (UIAI), he has nothing to do with that. "If some website comes up with some data, your responsibility is to bring it our notice. As far as I am concerned, the figures are wrong," said the official. Before mailing the figures to this correspondent, the official said "You may have something to do with Omar Abdullah or Mufti Mohammed Sayeed but we have nothing to do with any of the two. I want to tell you that your figures are not correct and we are sending you the actual data." On analysing the data provided by the Census Operations, Jammu and comparing it with the one available on the website of the UIDAI; the most interesting part is huge difference in the Aadhaar registration figures of the two high profile constituencies. While the UIDAI website has put Chief Minister Mufti Mohammed Sayeed's constituency Anantnag way head of ex-Chief Minister Omar Abdullah's constituency Ganderbal. UIDAI data shows that 81.66 percent people have been registered provided Aadhaar cards in Anantnag district while clearly pointing out that the process of registration under Aadhaar is yet to be started in Ganderbal district. But census operations, Jammu has put ex-Chief Minister Omar Abdullah's constituency ahead of Mufti Mohammed Sayeed's. It has shown that 64.99 percent people have been registered under Aadhaar in Ganderbal district while in Anantnag, the figure stands at 64.75 percent i.e. 0.24 percent higher. It is not known why this discrepancy and why is this that the data has minor variations in these two high profile districts. More importantly, if the census operations has registered just 64.75 percent people under Aadhaar, then how has the figure of 81.66 percent been communicated to the UIDAI by the state agencies. And if the figures reported are wrong, then it would be a matter of interest to see who has fudged the figures and wronged the national agency. Further, UIDAI has shown that the process is yet to be started in six districts namely Ganderbal, Kishtwar, Kupwara, Kulgam, Ramban, Samba and Shopian while the census operations has shown that the process has touched heights in these six districts. More importantly, the census operations has shown huge variation in the data of almost all the districts but in six districts, its numbers are far lesser than ones displayed on the website of UIDAI. Pulwama has been shown as having 12 percent lesser Aadhaar card registrations than what has been quoted by UIDAI. Same is the case with Udhampur where the UIDAI data shows 70.34 percent registrations while the census operations has clearly indicated that 63.28 percent people have been given the Aadhaar cards. Asked about these variations, the official in his threatening tone said "I am not bothered about what some website has shown." |
