Rank discrimination: Of 2 same batch IPS officers, one is IG, other DIG at Centre | | | Early Times Report jammu, Nov 24: In a case of rank discrimination with the two J&K cadre IPS officers of the same batch in Central services, one is posted as IG while the other is posted as DIG in a different wing. Mukesh Singh and MK Sinha are both 1996 IPS batch IPS officers. While Sinha is posted as IG in CBI, Mukesh is DIG in NIA. Sinha, who has held various important assignments in the State, had proceeded on Central deputation some time back. He was also given a foreign posting, according to police sources. However, Mukesh, who too was on deputation to NIA (National Investigation Agency), had rejoined the State police a few months back, following the expiry of his tenure of Central deputation. He hoped that he would be posted here as IGP, Jammu, but when it did not happen, he again proceeded on deputation to NIA, where he was posted as DIG despite the fact that he "holds IGP's rank". "Mukesh is the first State cadre IPS officer who has been given a lower rank in the Central services. All other State cadre IPS officers, including ADGPs, IGPs, SSPs and SPs, who are serving in Central services, were given their respective ranks," sources said. While Mukesh has served as SSP, Jammu, Sinha has served here as SSP, Border, Jammu. |
