Majalta Sarpanchs stage protest against JKBOSE | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 24 : More than a dozen Sarpanchs of tehsil Majalta alongwith several supporters today held a strong protest in front of the office of Chairman JKBOSE against the arbitrary fixation of exam centers for exams of class 10th and 12th. The agitated protesters raised slogans Chairman JKBOSE Hai Hai, Chor Bazari Nahin Chalege, Hera Phere Nahin Chalegi. The Sarpanches staged Dharna for two hours infront of Chairman's office after which they gave an ultimatum to the BOSE Chairman seeking establishment of exam centres in the far flung and difficult areas for the convenience of the examiners. Addressing the protesters and the public assembled on the occasion, Rajesh Sharma Sarpanch Bharnara said that JKBOSE was establishing exam centres on arbitrary basis without following any set norms. Alleging bias and prejudices in the establishment of exam centres, he said that several centres had reportedly been established on monetary considerations in connivance with vested interests. He said that there are several centres which had earned the notoriety for mass copying but were allowed permission to the neglect of deserving areas. Dharam Singh Bittu, Sarpanch Satrairi, while speaking on the occasion, said that several deputations of Majalta had apprised the JKBOSE about certain schools which were hand in glove with the BOSE officials and were publically known for dubious deals. He lamented that while all such schools were allowed permission, the genuine cases were left pending. Karnail Singh Sarpanch Chiani and Balwant Raj Sharma Sarpanch Thalora sought a review of the exam centres finalized by the JKBOSE for conduct of exams and sought establishment of new centres for deserving and left out areas. They said that several private and other schools having nominal students had managed to get centres by colluding with the BOSE authorities which they said was highly condemnable. The Sarpanchs called upon Chairman of JKBOSE to undertake a complete review of the exam centres on the basis of rational parameters and to fulfill the demand of the ignored areas at the earliest failing which the affected people would hold massive protests against the corrupt practices of JKBOSE at various forums. Others who spoke on the occasion included Baldev Singh Mankotia, Raj Kumar, Bodh Raj, Makhan Lal, Sunil Sharma besides others. |
