Police officer hailed for tightening 'noose against bovine smugglers' | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 15: Locals have hailed the hectic efforts from a police officer and his team for taking concrete measures to put a curb on the bovine smuggling in Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Nagrota by registering atleast 48 First Investigation Reports (FIRs) in two police stations of his Sub Division. Locals while applauding the perfect policing along the stretch of highway which was once notorious for the bovine smuggling maintained that the initiative undertaken by the present police team has not oly reduced the incidents of bovine smuggling be It transportation by vehicles or be it opting to go by foot. "The policing including the routine checking along the highway falling under the jurisdiction of SDPO Nagrota have been beefed up along the route, they added. As per official statistics, atleast 48 FIRS have been registered in connection with bovine smuggling incidents in Nagrota and Jajjhar Kotli Police Stations In the period of odd seven months, which came under the jurisdiction of Nagrota Sub-Division. Pertinently of the 48 FIRs 20 FIRs stands registered at Nagrota while 28 FIRs have been registered at Jhajjar Kotli Police Station. "Bharat Bushan, SDPO Nagrota himself is seen actively to raise nakas at night hours to handle crisis of bovine smugglers", said local. Another local of the area said that it is very unfortunate that the bovine smugglers easily cross nakas prior to the Nagrota and he also raised question over the working of police officials on the route of bovine smugglers. |
