Did ex-DIG Farooq Khan influence Gulmarg land scam? | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Nov 25: Former Deputy Inspector General of police and now state secretary of BJP Farooq Khan is again in the news for all wrong reasons. A top official has reached to the doorsteps of a top aide of Chief Minister Mufti Mohammed Sayeed, pleading that he had been wrongly implicated in a land related case at the behest of Khan, according to highly placed sources. The official has stated that he had been wrongly booked at the behest of the ex-DIG purely because he wanted to settle some personal score. He has further said that State Government should have a re-look at his case and find out from ground whether or not the land had been grabbed or sold, said a source. He maintained that the officer has even promised to present himself before any inquiry committee whichever is set-up by the Government to find out the factual position. Narrating his tale of woes, he has said that he was falsely implicated and his reputation suffered immensely due to this. The officer has further said that Khan not only ensured that an inquiry is ordered but even action is initiated against the officer. Sources further said that the officer is brother of another police officer who has always remained at loggerheads with Khan for various reasons. "Since Khan could not find much against him, he directed his tirade against his brother and used his channels to make an accused in the infamous Gulmarg Land Scam," added the sources. They maintained that Khan used his channels to make the officer an accused in a case where not even an inch of land had been sold or bought but a case was made out by raising too much hue and cry over this issue. "Even the State Vigilance Organisation agrees that no land has been either sold or transferred or bought the officer accused in this case yet a case stands registered against this officer in Crime Branch," added a source privy to this entire happening. He further said that Khan has always been after his professional rivals and used his best offices to ensure that they are taken to task. "He had vendetta against the officer. It is because of this reason that the officer was penalised in a case which has no basis. Let the Government frame a committee of officers to find out the facts. They would be amazed to know the reality if ever a probe is held and facts are brought to light," added the official. He further informed that instead of Gulmarg, State Government should order a probe into the land occupied by IAS, IPS and IFS officers in Patnitop area of Jammu region. "Government would be surprised to know the names of those police officers who have purchased land in Patnitop and even have hotels and motels on their names. Some of these high profile officers are these days part and parcel of the new administrative machinery," said the official. |
