World Heritage Week observed | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 25 : Department of Culture today observed World heritage Week here today. According to press release, to mark ongoing World Heritage Week, 386th 'Natural Heritage Interpretation Tree Talk' was also hosted by O P Sharma Director, Department of Ecology, Environment & Remote Sensing. During the talk, more than 30 students and equal number of morning walkers participated in one hour long track inside Manda forest. Ashraf Peerzada Dy Director Archives while interacting with youngesters shared that UNESCO adopted World Heritage Convention in 1973 to nurture heritage conservation and education across the globe. Out of 32 declared heritage sites ,25 sites are of cultural significance and 7 others are natural heritage sites of great ecological significance . Department of Culture has organized week long events during the week 19th to 26th November . O P Sharma well known environmentalist and Tree Talk activist while interpreting natural heritage reflected age old cultural and relegious traditions which nurture conservation of sacred tree groves like Pohu Grove at Chandigam Lolab ,Mango Grove at Bawa Ballo Mathwar and sacred waterbodies like Bhaid devta near Nagrota and Nag Devta at Mansar in Jammu. |
