Women farmers participate in Krishi Vigyan Kendra vocational training | | | Early Times Report Reasi, Nov 27: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu organized 4 days long vocational training programme on "Processing of seasonal fruits and vegetables" under the guidance of Director Extension of SKUAST-Jammu at village Talwara of Reasi district. More than 25 women farmers participated in the programme. Dr. Banarsi Lal, Scientist, started the programme with the warm welcome of the participants. He gave a detailed view of processing of fruits and vegetables and elaborated the importance of processing of fruits and vegetables. He narrated that fruits, vegetables are rich source of proteins, minerals and vitamins, and by their value addition techniques farmers can generate more income and employment. Dr. Sheetal Badyal, Home Scientist demonstrated the scientific techniques of processing of seasonal fruits and vegetables. She trained the women farmers in the preparation of jam, candy, sauce etc. by demonstrating their scientific preparation. She encouraged the women farmers for the value addition of seasonal fruits and vegetables by which they can fetch more prices. Dr.Banarsi suggested the women farmers for the entrepreneurship development in the processed products of fruits and vegetables. He motivated the women farmers by exemplifying the successful agro-entrepreneurs in the area and encouraged them to start more and more such type of units. He suggested that by Self Help Groups formation women can jointly work for large scale entrepreneurship in the processed products of fruits and vegetables. |
