Lone officer runs ZEO office Jourian 11/27/2015 11:31:53 PM Arun Singh Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 27: Exposing tall claims of the Education Minister of streamlining the education department, the Jourian Zonal Education Officer Jourian is run by a lone officer even as 10 posts remain vacant since 1991. Sources told Early Times that it has been more than 24 years since the inception of ZEO Office Jourian but till date the required posts have not been filled and it is functioning with negligible staff and making temporary arrangements. "At least eight posts are unfilled in ZEO Jourian out of minimum ten posts despite knowing the fact that with the passage time the numbers of schools have increased leading to the burden on the under staffed office," they said. They further said that there were posts of one Head Assistant, one ZEPO, one Account Assistant, two Junior Assistant, and two peons which are lying vacant for twenty four years but till date government has not paid heed to fulfill the requirement of the office. "However, with the inception of Sarva Siksha Abhiyan (SSA), the more burden of work has increased on the office, which this office is incapable of handling due to shortage of staff and shockingly all officials work is being done by the teachers of the various schools," they alleged further adding that no reorganization of the office has been done since 1991 and has left burden the administrative work solely on the teachers whose primary jobs is to teach the student but they forcibly had to do this work also. Sources informed that from the minimum required staff, one teacher has been engaged to look after the RTI application, ever since the introduction of RTI, who compiled the reply and dispatched then within specified time, one teacher has been engaged for handling the work of establishment, now office has engaged Legal Officer for disposing of all legal issue of the ZEO Jourian. "There are total 99 school under ZEO Jourian comprising two Government Higher Secondary School, six Government High School, 33 Middle Schools, 88 Primary Schools and the administration work of the schools of the entire zone is being looked for only ZEO, they said.
