National security compromised at AADHAR centres | AADHAR 'mafia' threatens Kishtwar youth | | Asif Iqbal Naik Early Times Report
Kishtwar, Nov 27: A youth running a computer shop at Sampuran Market Kuleed in Kishtwar is receiving calls from Kashmir, Jammu, Chandigarh and also from some Kishtwar-based mobile numbers with the callers threatening him to close down his shop where AADHAR cards are processed. Talking to Early Times, 29-year-old Rohit Singh Shan said he had availed a bank loan to set up a computer shop at Kishtwar and tied his business with Delhi-based AADHAR enrollment agency some two years ago after following proper procedure. He said that in the meantime the government also awarded the AADHAR enrolment contract to some private company in Kishtwar and the said company accordingly established its office at New DC Office Complex Kishtwar. He said that as per the guidelines, any registered agency can enroll AADHAR authorized by Unique Identification Authority of India. He said that after receiving continuous threat from AADHAR 'mafia', he first started thinking about closing his business, but the pressure from the bank to repay the loan forced him to revisit his decision. He said that the irony is that these AADHAAR 'mafia' even makes calls to Delhi-based agency by impersonating as MoS Revenue Sunil Sharma and Private Secretary to Chief Minister. He said the issue was brought into the notice of MoS Sunil Sharma. "I am highly thankful to MoS Sunil Sharma for clearing before the Financial Information Network with regard to his impersonating calls and also with regard to fake calls made to them on behalf of private secretary to CM," said Rohit Shan. He said that before enrolling for AADHAR, he checks relevant documents including date of birth certificate, photo identity proof and address proof of the persons and forwarded the scanned copies of the same to enrolling agency who issued AADHAR card to the beneficiary within 15 days. He said that while at other center, the enrolment is being done on the bases of census report and voter list. He also suspects the hand of locals behind issuance of regular threats to him.He said though the matter was brought into the notice of local police, nothing was done so far but he still hoped that police will act against those who are harassing him since long. Meanwhile reports pouring in from various AADHAR enrolment centres runs across the state said these centres are compromising the national security by not following the proper procedure which includes proper verification of documents. Sources informed Early Times that these AADHAR enrolment centres not only put the state security at risk but also compromises with the national security as there are chances that anti-national elements can breach the security set up by easily registering themselves against the dead persons and can put the security agency in tizzy as AADHAR is authenticated document and can even be used for issuance of passport. "Voter list lacks photo proofs, so census and issuing AADHAR cards merely on the basis of these things can put the security of the nation at risk as anti-national elements always tries to breach the security set up," said a person wishing anonymity. He said that in recent past it came to the fore that even Pakistan-based militants hold drive license issued in Rajouri along with Election Identity card. Sources did not rule out that some militants including foreign nationals were having registered AADHAR cards on the name of dead or impersonators. Meanwhile many complaints were also received that the AADHAR 'mafia' charged money from many people for issuing the AADHAR which is otherwise to be issued for free. |
