Mahore: Poor health care plagues people of 58 panchayats | | | Bijay Charak Early Times Report JAMMU, Nov 27: Prevailing situation at CHC Mahore gives an insight into the fragile condition of the healthcare in the peripheral areas of the state as 13 of the 16 sanctioned posts of doctors are vacant for years in this health care unit that caters to people of 58 panchayats of the region. Sources informed Early Times that a decade back, CHC Mahore was upgraded by state government but upgradation has been confined to the files of the health department. "The CHC Mahore has sanctioned strength of 16 doctors including six specialist doctors, eight Assistant Surgeons and two Dental Surgeon but the all posts of specialist doctors are vacant. Besides, six posts of Assistant Surgeons and one post of dental surgeon are lying vacant", sources said. The healthcare in the only healthcare centre in a large region is seriously paralyzed due to shortage of medical and para medical staff and people of 58 villages in the vicinity are suffering government's apathy. These people reach the CHC with great difficulty being mountainous region, only to be denied quality healthcare. In the absence of doctors at CHC Mahore, people have been facing many difficulties during medical emergencies and they have to rush either to the district hospital, or to the GMCH in Jammu by hiring private vehicles. |
