JAMMU, Nov 27: As the department is left with no medals and insignia for the officers who have been awarded Sher-e-Kashmir medals for meritorious and gallantry services, J&K police are spending over Rs 1.44 cr on their purchase. "The department at present is left with no medals which were to be distributed among the dozens of police officers who have been awarded Sher-e-Kashmir medals for meritorious and gallantry services by the government," police sources said. Following the home department approval in this regard vide its order No 501, the police headquarters has engaged a firm for the manufacture and supply of medals. A total of 196 medals would be supplied by the firm and 5,000 grams of gold would be used in their making, sources informed. Dozens of officers, who had been awarded Sher-e-Kashmir police medals, were yet to get them because the department was left with none of them. "After the manufacturer makes the supply, the awardees will be able to pin these gallantry medals on their chests," sources said. A total of Rs 1,44,21000 are being spent on the manufacture of medals, sources informed. |
