Pak bleeding India, BJP plays cricket with it | Insulting martyrs of 26/11 | | ET Report jammu, Nov 27: While intelligence agencies warn of Pakistan's attempt to create more troubles in Jammu & Kashmir and other parts of India, BCCI officials, including its secretary and BJP Lok Sabha member Anurag Thakur, couldn't find a better day other than 26/11 to hint about building India-Pakistan cricketing ties which were broken in the aftermath of the deadly terrorist attack in Mumbai on 26/11 in 2008 which killed hundreds of Indians and many foreign nationals, including Americans and Israelis. Thakur, in addition, wrote a letter to the Government of India to give a green signal so that Pakistani and Indian cricket teams play some matches in Sri Lanka. Only recently, Thakur had overruled the possibility of any cricket match between India and Pakistan, saying terror and cricket could go hand-in-hand. It must remain a matter of shame for BJP leaders like Thakur who have turned so insensitive that they don't care for the sentiments of the families of the martyrs to please Pakistan. Pakistan Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif has given his assent to the proposed Indo-Pak cricket series to be played in Sri Lanka. If Thakur has insulted the martyrs of 26/11 by toying with the idea of going ahead with Indo-Pak cricket series and by writing a letter to the Government of India in this regard, Congress leader, member of Rajya Sabha and chairman of BCCI Rajiv Shukla has defended the decision on building India-Pakistan cricketing ties, saying games should not be mixed with diplomacy. The very fact that it was none other than Anurag Thakur has written the letter only suggests that those who matter in the party and the Government and the concerned authorities in Pakistan are on the same side. However, the silver-lining is that the Ministry of External Affairs has not taken any decision in this regard. But there are reasons to believe that the Union Government could give the required permission. If the Ministry of External Affairs finally gives its OK to the proposal, it would be Pakistan's one more great diplomatic victory over India. |
