Locals protest over alleged non supply of CA&PD ration for last 3 months | | | Early Times Report Rajouri, Dec 11: Despite tall claims by the Consumer Affairs & Public Distribution (CAPD) department about adequate ration available at its out lets, the inhabitants of Rajouri district continued demonstrations alleging that they are not getting ration for the last 2-3 months. Inhabitants of Dassal today held a mass demonstration against CAPD officials outside the Office of Deputy Commissioner Rajouri while alleging that the department has failed to provide them ration for the last three months. Protestors including Faqir Mohd, Davinder Sharma and others alleged that for the last three months they have been visiting to their ration depot at W- 7 but they either find the outlet closed or the ration out of stock. "Either the department has not been supplying ration to the dealer or he is involved in black marketing the ration issued against their subscriptions" said Faqir Mohd further adding, "as majority of beneficiaries either belong to Below Poverty Line (BPL) category or middle class category and they can't afford to purchase ration especially Sugar at higher prices from the open market." Similar reports about protest are reported Darhal, Kotranka, Budhal, Manjakot, Kalakote etc tehsils. Meanwhile interacting with the representatives of Dassal area, Ch Mohd Mumtaz, ADC Rajouri assured them that he will take up the matter with the CAPD officials and soon they will be provided ration as per their quota. |
