In Delhi BJP calls 370 cancer, in J&K party protects it | | | ET Report new delhi, Dec 11: In the Parliament the "nationalist" BJP has termed Article 370 "dangerous as cancer" but in J&K the same party is spending huge amount to protect this "disease" at any cost. The starving daily wagers and temporary employees, engaged by the government in various departments, are denied wages due to manufactured "financial crunch" in J&K but PDP-BJP Government has spent lakhs and lakhs of rupees to protect the Article 370. Shockingly, BJP which is strong votary of the abrogation of Article 370, has apparently given his consent to spend lakhs and lakhs of rupees from government exchequer to protect Article 35-A which is an offshoot of Article 370, which according to the party is shield to give "protection" to the terrorists. Protecting Article 35-A is a clear living example of protecting Article 370. Credible sources in the corridors of power said facing tough task to file affidavit in the Supreme Court in case filed by a Delhi based NGO-"We The Citizens", the J&K Government, in which BJP is an very important part, had hired one of the prominent advocate of the country. Fees of this renowned advocate is very high so State Government, with the consent of BJP, gave green signal to hire this advocate because government has made it mind to protect Article 35 A. The way coalition government in J&K ready to spend any thing to protect Article 35 A, one thing has become clear that BJP double standard on Article 370 has been exposed. In public BJP leaders are strongly advocating abrogation Article 370 but in real sense party has given its consent to the State Government to spend huge amount of protect this Article. A Delhi based NGO-"We The Citizens" has challenged constitutional validity of Article 35 (A). Since August 16, 2014 the Supreme Court has given eight notices to both Centre and State Government. Meanwhile raking up the vexed issue of Article 370, BJP Members in the Lok Sabha today demanded its scrapping, saying it has created fault lines between Jammu and Kashmir and national mainstream as it denied people civil and political rights that other citizens enjoy under the Constitution. Participating in the discussion on Private Members' resolution on the rehabilitation and welfare of displaced persons from Kashmir, moved by BJP lawmaker Nishikant Dubey, Members from Treasury benches made a strong pitch for the abolition of the Article of the Indian Constitution. The Article is a 'temporary provision' which grants special autonomous status to Jammu and Kashmir. BJP Member Satypal Singh and former Police Commissioner of Mumbai said Article 370 is like a 'cancer' and should be removed immediately from the Constitution. "Terrorists were given protection, separatists were kept under house arrest, why does not the administration take any action under Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act," he questioned. |
