Factionalism in BJP takes toll on governance | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, Dec 11: Factionalism within the BJP is taking a heavy toll on the governance as its ministers and leaders are busy in establishing their supremacy over each other, sources told Early Times on Friday. They said the BJP leaders have divided themselves into groups and are trying to call the shots as per their will. "The lack of coordination among the BJP ministers is acting as major roadblock vis-a-vis implementation of the centrally sponsored schemes in Jammu and Kashmir," sources added. They said various centrally sponsored schemes have been caught between the tug-off war between the BJP ministers as everyone wants to take the credit for getting these schemes implemented. "No one wants to share the credit in the process nothing is moving and situation has taken an ugly turn," said a source. He said many files are pending in the offices of the BJP ministers and they are least interested in passing on the proposals from one department to another. "The projects which have been hit due to the ego of a few ministers would prove to be non-starters if BJP ministers don't give up their rigidity and move ahead," sources added. Insiders claimed that BJP ministers are insisting that people should be taken into confidence before starting any project. "This is just a lame excuse aimed at passing time. BJP leaders don't want to see each other and are trying to avoid sharing the points," they added. Sources revealed that New Delhi based BJP leaders have asked the party leaders to ensure that benefits of the centrally sponsored schemes should trickle down to the deserving people and they (ministers) should put in all the efforts in this connection. "A few ministers want that benefits of the central schemes should remain confined to their constituencies only so that they are able to keep their voters happy," they added. BJP ministers acting like local MLAs can have far reaching consequences as the constituencies which are represented by their coalition partner Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and opposition parties have been completely ignored thus triggering resentment among the masses, sources claimed. Pertinently, Mohammad Akbar Lone, MLA Sonawari and senior National Conference leader, had to face brickbats from the people for failing to provide them with the basic necessities. "BJP ministers are not paying any heed towards the development of Jammu and Kashmir. They are busy in settling their personal scores and establishing their writ. The arrogant attitude of the ministers and they not paying any heed towards the problems faced by the people in the constituencies of their fellow politicians is making people believe that they have wasted their vote," revealed a source. The arrogance of the BJP ministers has annoyed the PDP leaders who are alleging that they (BJP leaders) are acting as stumbling blocks and are not allowing the government to function fully. "BJP ministers are trying to hide behind the excuses and are claiming that PDP has rendered them irrelevant but the fact is that they are non-performers and are not interested in ensuring that they provide good governance. They are just interested in transfers, postings and shifting of the officials,' claimed a politician. |
