4 ex-SMC officials under scanner for frauds 12/11/2015 11:43:11 PM Javaid Naikoo Early Times Report srinagar, Dec 11: Four former employees of Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) including an executive engineer and an accounts officer are under scanner of authorities for making fake bills and looting the exchequer in the process. Sources told Early Times that authorities have booked a former executive engineer , an accounts officer and two other employees of sewerage and drainage division of the SMC for framing fake bills and issuing work orders without fulfilling mandatory criteria during their tenure. Sources said these officials allotted around 30 works by using illegal means and without fulfilling set mandatory norms. The work orders were also issued on the directions of some politicians. These four officials without deducting taxes from bills of contractors allowed the latter to carry out works. Sources said going through the details so far it has surfaced that this team of officials caused a loss of around Rs 7 lakh to state exchequer.
