Include teachers in state Warrant of Precedence | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, Dec 11: An Education Department official in Jammu and Kashmir has asked the government to consider including teachers in the state Warrant of Precedence so that they get the deserved respect and make it obligatory for others to offer courtesy to the teaching fraternity. "A long term and effective intervention could be inclusion of teachers in the J&K Warrant of Precedence so that we can fundamentally change the way teachers are looked at and they not only get the deserved respect but there is statutory obligation on others to offer courtesy. Their official status will also be elevated," Director School Education Kashmir Shah Faesal has said. The suggestion was made by Faesal, a topper of UPSC examination in 2010, in a letter to Commissioner-Secretary to the state government's School Education Department on Wednesday. "It is as such proposed that in the J&K Warrant of Protocol, issued vide Govt Order NO. 113-H & P of 2001 dated 16.07.2001, clause 28(a) may be introduced to include teachers, meaning all category of employees engaged in active teaching profession viz, professors/lecturers/masters/teachers," he wrote. Faesal said the practice in most of the developed countries is that teaching profession attracts of the minds, has a very attractive salary and service packages. "There are social, legal and statutory privileges granted to teachers in their routine and administrative transactions," he added. |
