Udhampur- Manser road cries for attention

Udhampur, Dec 11: With the authorities concerned sleeping over the issue, the Udhampur -Manser road leading to famous tourist destination nestled in the hilly terrain of intersection of Udhampur and Samba districts is crying for attention.
Though the conditions of many interior roads in Udhampur district are miserable but the road leading to this famous lake resort is in shambles and majority of drivers try to avoid plying on this stretch of road.
According to locals a drive on the road between Battal Morh to Mansar which is approximately just some 5km but it offers a worst experience to the driver.
"And this bumpy and dusty ride have created a hesitation among the people of Udhampur to go to Mansar Lake on weekends and thus depriving the lake resort of local and the outsider tourists.
Ranjeet Singh Mankotia a local resident lamented that some ten years ago the said road was black topped but it has never witnessed any repair making road leading to Mansar Lake from bad to worst. Talking to Early Times, another local resident Ganesh Kumar told that minibus drivers apprehending damage to their vehicles also avoid to ply on this road further causing inconvenience to local people.
Ganesh further said that it becomes altogether a challenge for them to send their wards to schools during rains.
When contacted, MLA Ramnager R S Pathania said that approximately Rs 4.5 Crore have been sanctioned to upgade link roads including Battal to Mansar. He assured that repairs works will be taken up by the executing agencies very soon and it will be completed by February 2016 .
