12/11/2015 10:49:50 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Dec 11: The State Vigilance Commission in a significant order has directed the Principal Chief Conservator Forests, J&K for initiation of departmental action against Forest Range Officer, Nowshera, District Rajouri.
The Commission in its previous hearing on a complaint against Mohinder Lal, the then Block Officer, Jhangar, Range Nowshera, presently Range Officer Nowshera, for illegal grabbing of forest land measuring 20 kanals and its subsequent revenue entry in Khasra Girdawari in his own name and his co-shares by fraudulent means has sought report from SDM Nowshera which prima-facie established illegal grabbing of forest land by the said Forest Officer. "The SDM was called on 24/07/2015 to get the encroachment of 20 kanals of forest land by the senior Forest Officer retrieved which was done and revenue entry also got corrected on 23/10/2015 by expunging the illegal entry in Khasra Girdawari in the name of the Forest Officer, SVC observed and said forest land is now back in possession of the Government Department by the quick action of SDM Nowshera.
While taking serious note of the matter, SVC held it is unfortunate for that the employer who was supposed to protect the forests and forest land had not only grabbed the same but, had also allotted the same to himself and his co-shares to loot the Green Gold of the State and accordingly, directed the Principal Chief Conservator Forests, J&K for initiation of Departmental Enquiry and strict disciplinary action as warranted under rules against the said erring Forest Officer.
