Baramulla holds special prayers as homage to Mufti Mohammad Sayeed

BARAMULLA, Jan 8: Thousands of people across North Kashmir paid rich tributes to late Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed at the annual urs of Sufi saint Syed Mohammad Janbazi Wali here in this district of North Kashmir. Special prayers were held for the departed soul of Mufti at Khanpora Baramulla where the Annual Urs was being held today. Thousands of devotees from several parts of Kashmir valley thronged to Baramulla town to participate in the annual Urs of Sufi Saint Syed Janbaz Wali (RA). People from all walks of life attended Shab-e- Khawni (night prayers) and Friday prayers in the shrine and Tabrukats were also displayed for the people, rich tributes and Dua-I Mgfirat was offered to the departed soul of Mufti. Special prayers meetings were organized by police in District Police Line Baramulla in which Quran Khawni (recitations) was also held after Friday congregational prayers. SSP Baramulla, Mir Imtiyaz Hussain, SHO Syed Aiyaz Geelani and other police officers attended the prayer meetings. On this occasion police officers said, "Mufti sahib was a staunch nationalist who always worked for the development of the state of Jammu and Kashmir and devoted his entire life for the welfare of the people of all regions without any caste, creed and religion."
Meanwhile a condolence meeting of Jammu and Kashmir General Category Welfare Forum (JKGCWF) was held today at Kreeri under the chairmanship of Syed Shamim Ahmad. The meeting was attended by the executive members of the forum and all the members paid rich tributes to the departed soul.
Shamim said that Mufti was a visionary leader and his contributions will not be forgotten. He was a person with exemplary leadership qualities and his untimely death is a great loss to the nation and especially to the state of J&K, said president.
The members prayed for the eternal peace of departed soul and expressed sympathy with the Mufti family.
