Early Times Report
Banihal, Jan 8: Following the reports that Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CAPD) Department in its new survey has not included children below six years for the applying new Ration cards, the locals from different far off areas of district Ramban today demanded the inclusion of children also in the ration cards under the new survey of the department. Locals alleged that the CAPD department is doing its survey under new food policy but the officials are including children above 6 years this time. They pin pointed till the next survey the left out children will attain the age of 15 -16 years. Locals questioned how will the poor families will manage to feed their children between these year and appealed CAPD Minister Zulfkar Ali and concerned authorities to kindly look into the matter and include the children below 6 also in the ration cards. A sarpanch Mohammad Shafi Zargar from mountainous Rajgarh of Ramban said that the maximum poor people of the state are getting their ration from the government CAPD stores and the exclusion of children below six year is injustice to poor families. Agitated over the non inclusion of below six year children, the locals said, " on one hand government claims to give benefit to the poor people after announcing Food Security Bill on the other hand it is creating problems for poor people of state how can they afford ration purchased from open market till the children are included in the ration cards.” |
