1/8/2016 11:44:01 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Jan 8: The BJP high command has directed the State unit to extend full and unconditional support to the Peoples Democratic Party president Mehbooba Mufti, who is to take over the next Chief Minister of the State.
According to the party sources, the directions in this regard have been given by the Home Minister Rajnath Singh on the instructions of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, after consultations with the senior party leaders.
According to the sources it was communicated to the party Ministers and the MLAs by the Home Minister on his arrival at Srinagar to attend the funeral of Mufti Sayeed.
"Rajnath Singh told the party legislators that nothing should be done to disturb the alliance, which has been formed to last full six-year.
The party leaders have also been directed that they should not make any statement critical of the Mehbooba Mufti even taking recourse to his past statement, especially at a time when she is in the mourning the death of her father and it would not only go against the party but would rather put the party in a very bad light," said the sources.
Sources said that the BJP leaders were made absolute clear that every direction and decision will come from the Centre and State unit will not make statement more so critical to the continuation of the alliance.
According to the sources it's only after the directions were received that all BJP Ministers went tightlipped on the change of the guard. They have also been told that the continuation of the alliance to be headed by the Mehbooba Mufti.
"The BJP Ministers are more keen on the continuation of the alliance for their own self-interests and more so they are tasting power for the first time. They have decided not to do anything that will put their chair at the risk as their chances of coming back are dim and critical comment about Mehbooba, will only brighten her chances," said the sources.
