GAD's zor ka jhatka, zor se! | Council of Ministers page taken off from website | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Jan 8: Even as the Governor's rule was yet to be formally announced in Jammu and Kashmir, the General Administration Department (GAD) this afternoon deleted the webpage carrying information about the Council of Ministers. The internet users, who this afternoon accessed the GAD's website, were shocked to see that though the link existed for the Council of Minister's page, the page was missing. The GAD volunteered to remove the page much before, Governor NN Vohra would formally promulgate his rule in J&K. As Mehbooba Mufti, the daughter and heir-apparent of late CM Mufti, continues to be reluctant for stepping in her father's shoes, the Governor’s rule is likely to be imposed in the headless State when the report was being filed this evening. Some of the PDP Ministers were shocked to learn that they are no more Ministers. Source said one of the Ministers had called his spokesman that his press release should be "definitely carried today." But the Minister got the shocker that he was no more eligible to issue handouts through Information department as Minister. Another Minister got shock of his life, when he called some engineers in the R&B department asking them to keep some official vehicles at his disposal for around a week as he would stay back in Srinagar. "Sorry sir, officially I cannot arrange official vehicles for you. If you want I will hire some taxis for you and also give you my private car," said a source quoting the official of having responded to the Minister. Sources said, a BJP Minister approached top Government official in the GAD, asking him why his name as Minister had been deleted from the GAD website. "It took us some time to explain that with the demise of the Chief Minister, their status stands reduced to the lawmaker," said a source. Under the rule of the law, the new Chief Minister will take oath along with a new team which may or may not be the same as that of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed. Kashmir witnessed a similar major change when Dr Farooq Abdullah succeeded his father Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah in 1982. |
