Kathua, Jan 8: People hailing from Chann Grahan alleged that Kanals of state land and Khuds (ditches) have been openly encroached and then sold in the and adjoining areas of said village but concered authorities remained mute spectators courtesy unholy nexus with land mafia.
Dharam Paul Lambardar of the village confirmed the encroachment and has informed that Khasra no.s 218,221,237 & 366 meant for pasture entirely encroached and being daringly sold on agreements.
He alleged on field officers of Revenue department are supporting the encroachment bids by land mafia and have even changed the land nomenclature giving favour to beneficiaries including real estate agents just for easy money.
Paul also informed that nomad community encroach Revenue land besides gorge/ditches and revenue officials back the menace for sweeteners that must be controlled.
Amandeep Lakhotra, a local, said Pasture land and gorges are being converted into private land and openly sold. He said shops, permanent sheds, temporary houses, plinths are being constructed daringly but Revenue officials act like spectators that point out their working. He said encroachment on local rivulets would be alarming bell for disaster and irrigation purpose in down areas.
The villagers sought immediate action against encroachers and inquiry for tainted officers who back the menace.
When contacted to DDC Kathua Ramesh Kumar IAS, informed that committees have been constituted to vacate encroached land and 1800 kanal lands has evicted in previous days.
He said review meetings are also being convened in fortnight and monthly to know the update of action against encroachment on state land.
DDC Kathua ensured to initiate inquiry in encroached land in Chann graham and action will be taken against officers if any one backs the menace. |
