| BJP workers 'upbeat' about speculations of 'replacements' | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Jan 8: With delay in swearing-in of Mehbooba Mufti as the next Chief Minister of the State for apparent reasons, the Government for now ceases to exist, though it is only a matter of few days for her to take over the reins of PDP-BJP alliance. There will, however, be no change whatsoever, in the composition of the Council of Ministers from either of the alliance partners.
Sources said though rumours are agog about possibility of changes in the Government, Mehbooba Mufti would not effect any changes within her own party nor would she respond to changes sought from BJP. No Minister would be dropped for now nor any new face would be inducted after she takes over as the Chief Minister, sources said. However, she may effect a couple of changes only in swapping of departments within the two alliance partners, sources said, adding that this will not impact the functioning of the Government as this matter has already been discussed and mutually agreed upon by both the parties while Mufti Mohammad Sayeed was in the chair.
However, as the social media remained rife with rumours with regard to composition of the alliance Government afresh, disappointed with the present set of Ministers of party, BJP workers were the most upbeat lot to respond to the speculations of possible changes as for the Council of Ministers. In the BJP headquarters too, as strong yearning reflected in the discussions that it was the right occasion for the high command to go ahead with the changes not only at the level of the Deputy Chief Minister but also among the existing Ministers whom majority of the workers want to be replaced by the new faces from within the party, party sources said. Speculations, once again went viral about replacement of Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh but the BJP Central leadership is not willing to take a step in that direction for now, sources said.
On the other hand the possibility of delay of few more days of Mehbooba's swearing in is also fuelling speculations and all sorts of comments on the social media as also in political corridors that some disgruntled elements are once again active and would use this gap to their interests. Sources within the PDP however, dismissed these speculations asserting the entire legislative party was with the decision of elevating only Mehbooba Mufti as the new Chief Minister of the State.
