HC directs ERA CEO to file statement of facts in 3 weeks | PIL on Shankutla-Janipura flyover | | Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 13: A high court division bench of Chief Justice N Paul Vasanthakumar and Justice Bansi Lal Bhat today directed CEO of ERA to file statement of facts on the Shakuntla-Janipura flyover project within three weeks about the steps taken by the agency in view of the May 26, 2015 direction of the chief minister in this regard. The court directive came in a petition filed by the Citizen's Forum, alleging therein that the flyover project from Shakuntla Chowk-Balwinder Chowk-Ambhpalla connecting Jail Road and New Plot-Janipura road conceived in 2008 had been abandoned for extraneous reasons. The bench observed that in the averments of affidavit filed on July 16, 2015, it was stated that a meeting was convened under the chairmanship of then chief minister on May 26, 2010 and ERA was directed to undertake the work of widening the existing BC road to 8 lane width. The ERA has not made its stand clear on the suggestion made by the chief minister. The bench directed the ERA CEO to file the statement of facts within three weeks regarding the steps taken after the chief minister's direction. |
