Authorities out to strangle employees' voice | Seek RC of unions, list of office bearers | | Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 13: In an attempt to hide the failures and misdeeds of the Department of School Education, the higher authorities have now resorted to oppressive measures against the employee leaders and their activities. For this purpose, on the direction of Commissioner Secretary School Education, the Directorate of School Education Jammu has issued an order seeking status of the unions functioning in the Department and necessary permission under which the employees leaders were running their trade union activities. Asking the employees leaders to explain whether their respective union is registered under J&K Civil Service (Recognition of Service Association Rules 1995), the Government has also asked them to provide their copy of Registration, List of Members, Copy of Constitution, Governing Body and copy of bye laws. However, the ill intention of the Government in this regard can be well judged from selective targeting of the employees leaders, who have been personally named in this order No DSEJ/60549-56, issued by the Director School Education Jammu. The employees leaders, specifically mentioned in the order, include; Kiranjeet Kour, president of All J&K Plus Two Lecturers Forum; Ganesh Khajuria, general secretary J&K Teachers Forum; Maheshwar Prasad, president All Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh Teachers Federation; Hari Singh, president United School Teachers Federation; Naresh Sharma, president Post Graduate Teachers Association; BB Kotwal, president All J&K School Education Non-Teaching Forum and Vinod Sharma, president All J&K RET Teachers Forum. Pertinent to mention that these unions and their leaders remain on forefront in highlighting the grievances of teachers and alleged misdeeds of the higher ups in the School Education Department. On the other hand, some other unions, which are notorious for only pleasing the high ups, have not been touched in the said order. More ironic is the fact that president and general secretary of one of such favourite unions are still attached in the Directorate of School Education despite the order for detachment of all. According to the sources, these blue eyed leaders of the higher-up are behind getting this order issued. A nexus of such blue eyed officials and teachers has recently cropped up in the Directorate of School Education and the order on status of specific unions is believed to be their manipulation for tightening noose around those who may expose their misdeeds, sources explained. |
