Post Pathankot: Another suspected 'spy' lifted by Punjab Police from Surankot | | | Early Times Report Rajouri, Feb 13: In post Pathankot terror attack and Espionage Case, the Punjab Police lifted one suspected spy from Surankote of Poonch district Poonch district on Friday and was taken to Punjab after getting transit remand from a local court. The suspect has been identified as as Sajjad Hussain s/o Khadim Hussain of village Hari Mehrote under the jurisdiction of Surankot Police Station.Sources said that the arrested accused is a cousin of already arrested spy Irshad Ahmed who was arrested by the Punjab police in the first week of February. After attack on Air Force base at Pathankot ,Punjab police has been investigating the role of locals who they allege have been working for Pakistan's spy agency Inter Services Intelligence (ISI). On the tip-off of intelligence agencies Punjab police have arrested Irshad Ahmed who was engaged by a Punjab based contractor as a manual labor to work at Division HQs at Pathankot in the Mamoon Cantt where terrorists had struck Air Force Base. As per reports Intelligence agencies have reportedly recovered several photos of sensitive installations from Irshad's smart phone. Meanwhile police sources said that accused Sajjad Hussain the cousin of Irshad earlier too was arrested by the Surankot Police for his suspicious activities and was sent to Joint Interrogation Centre (JIC) at Jammu. "However about a week ago he was given clean chit by JIC authorities and was released. On Friday Punjab police came to Surankot and with the help of local police arrested Sajjad Hussain as they have some inputs of illegal transaction of money in his account from foreign countries," said a senior police officer. He added after getting transit remand from a local court, Punjab Police has taken him to Punjab on Friday. |
