Weather woes to continue during next 3 days | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Apr 2: Weather woes will continue during the next three days in the Kashmir valley, where people again wear woolen and warm clothes after witnessing less snow and rain in winter. Interestingly the minimum temperature witnessed considerable increase in the valley, where intermittent fresh snow on upper heights and rain in the plains had been recorded during the past 24 hours. A MeT department spokesman said here this afternoon that there could be widespread rain in the Valley and Jammu region and isolated in Ladakh region during the next 24 hours. This, he said, will follow fairly widespread, scattered and isolated rain during the subsequent three days. A number of roads in the summer capital were again submerged during the overnight rain which continued today also. He said 6 mm rainfall was recorded in the city during the past 24 hours though the minimum temperature recorded more than three degree increase. Against yesterday's 6 degree, which was normal, the minimum temperature surged again and settled at 9.3 degree. There could be light rain or thundershowers and the maximum and minimum temperature would be around 14 degree and 5 degree respectively in the city during the next 24 hours. Bad weather has also affected dish services in Srinagar city. The world famous ski resort of Gulmarg, 55 km from here in north Kashmir, recorded lowest minimum temperature in the valley though it was still above normal despite 14.2 mm rainfall during the past 24 hours. Against yesterdays 0.5 degree, the minimum temperature there was 2.6 degree, about three notches above normal. However, sun was playing hide and seek there today. Pahalgam, the famed health resort in south Kashmir also recorded more than 11 mm rainfall though the minimum temperature witnessed surge. Against yesterday's 1.7 degree, it was 4.7 degree, about three notches above normal. Qazigund, Kokernag and Kupwara also recorded above normal temperature despite rain. Leh also recorded considerable increase in the minimum temperature. Against yesterday’s 2.6 degree, it was 8.6 degree there while the temperature of border town of Kargil was not available.
The sky would be generally cloudy and the maximum and minimum temperatures would be around 10 degree and 5 degree respectively during the next 24 hours at Leh. At Jammu light rain or thundershowers could occur and the maximum and minimum temperatures would be around 30 degree and 16 degree respectively during the next 24 hours. |
