Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 2: The Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) is reportedly still indecisive to restart interview process for nearly 1650 posts of Assistant Professors as there is no direction given by Higher Education department, which had gotten the process stalled due to Minimum Standard Procedure (MSP) certificate issue. Sources in JKPSC informed Early Times that the time limit given to stall the process has just expired and for the first week of April, they would remain busy to conduct the interviews for some other posts. After 10th of April, the decision regarding resumption of the stalled interview process, could be taken, but if sources in the civil secretariat are to be believed, the Higher Education department is waiting for the Nigvekar Committee report, which is likely to be submitted soon. Sources further informed that few days back, there was a high level meeting called by Advisor to Governor, in which officials of Higher Education department and University of Jammu and Kashmir had participated. "Earlier, it was transpired that after a meeting with aspirants of Assistant Professor posts, Advisor to Governor had asked the Higher Education department to go ahead with recruitment process but later, a written statement was sought by Governor's advisor from Secretary of University Grants Commission", sources said. They further said that in the latest meeting, the officials of University of Jammu as well as Higher Education department had apprised Governor's advisor that the Nigvekar Committee report was likely to be submitted soon. "The Nigvekar Committee report is reportedly going to be submitted on April 4th and as per the initial inputs, it also come to fore that as per recommendations of Nigvekar Committee, all those who had qualified Ph.D prior to 2009 regulations of UGC will be exempted from MSP certificates", sources said. A final call is likely to be taken by Higher Education department and JKPSC, seemingly after report of Nigvekar Committee will be submitted, sources said. Pertinently, JKPSC had deferred the recruitment process on the request of Higher Education department, following requests by Jammu and Kashmir University to wait for the report. |
