BJP top brass may skip oath taking ceremony of Mehbooba | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Apr 2: The BJP has decided to keep the swearing-in ceremony of Mehbooba Mufti as a low key affair. The party is trying to send the message that it is not much enthusiastic about the Government formation. According to sources the only top leader from the BJP to attend the ceremony on Monday would be M Venkaiah Naidu, the Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister. The earlier plan was that Rajnath Singh, the Home Minister who is the second topmost person in the Government, was coming to attend the ceremony. Sources said that Naidu would be the representative of the BJP and the top most Government representative would be MoS in the PMO Jitendra Singh, who incidentally is also a local MP, and not much political heavy weight in the Central Government. The BJP Central leadership is pointing out that Rajnath Singh has pressing engagement since he is handling the country as the PM is away. But many believe it as a lame execuse as PM Modi himself attended the ceremony when Mufti Sayeed was sworn in as the CM. "The BJP is trying to send the message that the party is not so much over enthusiastic with the Government. It's subtle message that it is not power hungry and also that it would first adopt wait and watch policy on the functioning of Mehbooba Mufti's performance before getting really on the board with her," said a BJP leader. However, the possible staying away of the top leadership of the BJP from swearing in ceremony and that too in a sensistive State like J&K where BJP has come to the power for the first time indicates that the too parties have not got along well after the differences crept in the last three months and it's an indication that alliance is still a shaky affair. |
