Mine recovered in Nowshera | | | Early Times Report Rajouri, Apr 2: A major tragedy was averted in a remote village in Nowshera tehsil today when a farmer detected an abandoned mine while working in the field. According to police sources one Munir Hussain son of Munshi Khan while working in his field in village Kampla Mora this afternoon found the explosive and immediately brought the matter to the notice of local police. "A bomb disposal team from army also reached to the spot and cordoned the area while destroyed the mine on the spot. "Had the mine exploded there would have been loss of life or injuries to some persons in the area" said a police officer. If recalled here in April last year three labourers from Uttar Pradesh were killed when one among them picked up an abandoned mine in Saryah village in Nowshera of Rajouri district and started fiddling with it. Following the tragic incident Army had organised a camp to educate the people about the identity of various types of mines which could be found in this locality and taught them Do's and Don't in the case any unidentified object is found by the locals. |
