| May Day celebrated across Jammu | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, May 1: The May Day was celebrated across Jammu by various employees' organizations with enthusiasm. The Water Works (PHE) Employees Association, District Poonch under the Chairmanship of Shiv Kumar Sharma National Secretary and State President of INTUC and also the provincial president of the association. The function organised by Faiz Akbar Chouhan, the District President of Poonch unit and his team. The Workers from Mendhar, Surankot, Poonch, Balakot, Bukhliaz etc had come in large strength to attend the occasion. In his speech Faiz Akbar Chouhan quoted immediate problems being faced by the working classes especially in the hilly areas. He expressed dissatisfaction over non-adoption of a proper policy for the regularization of all types of Daily Wagers/ITI Trained Workers.
State Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) celebrated May Day in a unique manner by raising the issues of most neglected class the labour and by paying tributes to the persons who were embodiment of conviction and simplicity contributed a lot for working class. The function was organized under the chairmanship of Former Minister Thakur Randhir Singh NCP chief J&K state , Former Minister and Founder of INTUC in the state paid glowing tributes to the 1886 Chicago movement, Singh said that the sacrifices gave new meaning and direction to the Labour movement across the globe, culminating into setting up of ILO with its Headquarters at Geneva to coordinate efforts for the welfare of the workers in the entire world. |
