Only Srinagar to Jammu traffic on Kashmir highway

Srinagar, May 2: Only Srinagar to Jammu traffic was today allowed on the Kashmir highway, linking the Valley with the rest of the country, a traffic police official said.
However, both way traffic has been allowed on Srinagar-Leh National Highway and historic Mughal road with some restrictions while the road from Bandipora to border town of Gurez and Synthan-Kishtwar road remained closed since December last year.
Traffic official told that keeping in view the condition of the road only one way movement of traffic is possible on the 300-km-long Srinagar-Jammu National Highway.
As such, he said, after two days of up traffic from Jammu to Srinagar due to the movement of Darbar move vehicles, today traffic was allowed from Srinagar towards Jammu side only. However, he said movement of all types of Jammu-bound passenger vehicles was permitted from Qazigund, gateway of Kashmir from 0500 hrs to 1500 hrs whereas movement of load carriers was permitted strictly from 0600 hrs to 1400 hrs.
He said on Mughal road, movement of traffic was to be allowed from 0800 hrs upto 1200 hrs from Buflaiz towards Shopian and from 1300 hrs upto 1600 hrs from Shopian towards Bufflaiz.
Srinagar-Leh road was also through for both way traffic. Cut off time for all types of vehicles plying from Kargil towards Sonamarg was 0630 hrs at Drass and 0900 hrs at Minimarg whereas cut off time for all types of vehicles plying from Srinagar towards Kargil shall be 1100 hrs at Sonamarg.
