Hamara apna bank `extorts' money from gullible job aspirants | Candidates made to deposit Rs 510 instead of Rs 505 | | Ashwani Sharma Early Times Report Udhampur, May 2: The premier financial institution of the state, The Jammu and Kashmir Bank Ltd, which boasts off its customer-friendly policies, today charged different fee from 10+2 job aspirants. Reports said today was the last date of depositing the fee. Some branches of JK Bank charged 510 rupees instead of 505 as mentioned on the fee slip. Vikram Jeet, a student sought an explanation from the cashier but no answer was forthcoming. Vikram informed him about his friend who had deposited 505 rupees only in Housing Colony Branch. Pertinently the `extortion' happened in the main JK Bank branch at Udhampur where most of the aspirants come to deposit the fee. Another student of M Phil said some students were very poor and Rupees 5 meant a lot to them. "In the name of service charge, the bank is extorting money from the gullible students," he said. In gross violation of norms, the bank charges an surplus amount of Rs 5 on each pay-in slip at the main branch situated in the court complex . "If it is the service charge then why other branches do not demand it, " he questioned. The Zonal Head of J&K Bank Ashutosh Sareen promised to look into the matter. According to him, some bank slips seeking 510 rupees may have caused the confusion. It is in place to mention here that lacs of aspirants deposit the fee and that way the bank `extorts' lacs of rupees. |
