HC issues orders for thesis submission of Dy CMs' scholars | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, May 3: High court judge Mohammad Yaqoob Mir today directed the Jammu University vice-chancellor to forward the thesis of petitioners to all the concerned authorities. The petition has been filed by three scholars -- Skalzang Dorjey, Kouple Dev and Sunita Sharma -- who are students of Prof Nirmal K Singh, now deputy chief minister of J&K. Their counsel alleged that due to the tussle of JU authorities with Prof Nirmal, they were being harassed. He submitted that the court had earlier also directed JU authorities to allow Prof Nirmal's scholars to continue their research under his supervision. The petitioners were aggrieved of the November 26, 2015 JU's impugned order, disallowing scholars to continue with the existing supervisor. The counsel contended that it was out of question to change the supervisor as most of the petitioners had completed 80-90 pc of their research works and what was left behind was only the submission of the thesis. What is surprising is that earlier the authorities had allowed two scholars -- Chanderkanta and Neeraj Jandyal -- working under Prof Nirmal to submit their thesis. (JNF) |
