Despite ban on mobile phones in Women's College Srinagar, Edu minister poses for pics | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, May 3: Education Minister and government spokesman Naeem Akhter, who swears by his discipline and integrity, almost did actor Salman Khan's "Chal Beta Selfie Le Le Re" number at Government College for Women MA Road here Tuesday when the college girls asked for a picture with him. It was scores of girls taking out smart phones from their purses and jostling each other for a selfie with the education minister during a function at their college. "Sir one selfie please!" the jubilant girls could be heard saying. "Aavo Beta Lay Lo Selfie," the Minister said in a fatherly tone. Though taking a selfie could be taken as something trending in the society, it defied the basics of discipline at this college in the city center. This college often claims to have barred students from carrying any mobile phones to the institution while seizure of any such gadget can lead to rustication. But today the tall claims of discipline fell flat when almost all the students were seen carrying smart phones and displayed it before the visiting dignitary and the college authorities, alike. Abida Khan, whose daughter studies in the college said it was shocking to see girls carrying so costly smart phones to college. "How do parents afford to get such costly phones for their wards," the lady questioned. However college authorities said there was no ban on carrying mobile phone to the college. "Use of cell phones is not allowed rest girls can bring phones on along," the authorities said. |
