DRYWA demands VLWs, GRS’ assets verification | | | Early Times Report Doda, May 19: Doda Rural Youth Welfare Association (DRYWA) a NGO has alleged large scale bungling in the rural development department and demanded verification of the properties owned by the Village Level Workers, Multipurpose Workers and the Gram Rozgar Sewaks working at grass root level in the department. After conducting a thorough survey of various projects and schemes undertaken by the rural development department in block Gundna, Thathri, Ghat, Udhyanpur, Bhagwah Marmat, Kashtigarh and Assar. NGO claimed to have gathered information regading misuse of funds by the executing agency and also found evidences that the ground level workers in the department have accumulated assets that are not proportionate to their known means of income. Talking to media president of the NGO Fareed Ahmed Naik said that the funds meant for MGNREGA and other flagship programmes under the RDD have been embezzeled during past many years. He said that the works executed by the department are not as per the norms and most of the works do not even exist on ground. Naik alleged that there is a nexus being run by the employees of the Rural Development department and some opportunist members of the panchayats who engulf the major share of the funds meant for the development of the rural areas of the state of Jammu and Kashmir in general and district in particular. He demanded audit and verification of the assets of the employees associated with these schemes in the department. |
