Several initiatives in offing to streamline JK's public distribution system: Zulfkar | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, May 19: Department of Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CA&PD) Department today organized a mega awareness camp regarding implementation of NFSA, launch of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed Food Entitlement Scheme (MMSFES) and awareness on consumer rights. The camp was organized at General Zorawar Singh Auditorium of Jammu University which witnessed large participation of representatives of trade organizations, oil companies, officers of CA&PD, Legal Metrology, fair price shop owners from across the Jammu province and prominent citizens. The camp was organized with the objective to remove the misconceptions among the general public regarding NFSA and educate them about MMSFES and their rights as consumers. The awareness camp showcased an informative street play by the Nav Durga Rang Manch focusing on consumer awareness and rights particularly on NFSA, MMSFES and other commodities with a message 'be alert before, while and after buying'. Representatives of various organizations, traders and consumer rights activists also spoke on the occasion and expressed their views and valuable suggestions. A documentary film on achievements of the present government titled Nai Subah was also screened on the occasion. Director CAPD Jammu G.S Chib, Director CAPD Kashmir, Mushtaq Ahmed and Deputy Controller Legal Metrology Manoj Prabhakar highlighted the achievements of the department. Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution, Ch. Zulfkar Ali along with Divisional Commissioner Jammu Dr Pawan Kotwal, Secretary CAPD, Shafiq Ahmed Raina, Director CAPD Jammu and Director CAPD Kashmir released four different publications including 10 months milestones of CAPD, Legal Metrology in the service of society, compendium for users and a detailed directory of the department. The Minister in his address congratulated the department for bringing together representatives from various organizations, dealers, officers at a gathering of this magnitude. He said the dealers have a pro-active role for effective implementation and execution of welfare schemes launched by the Government. |
