Forest fires reported at various places; army, forest officials on job | | | Early Times Report
Rajouri, May 19: Massive forest fires have been reported from various parts in Rajouri district and army, police, forest officials and even the locals too are on job to douse the forest fires while keeping in view the gravity of situation army has been put on standby in case of any emergency at some places. Today the fire broke out in compartment No 4 under Rajouri Forest division near villages Chattiyar and Chakli under the jurisdiction of Chingus police post. As per information available from sources hundreds of Pinewood trees have been damaged in the fire and personnel from police , Forest Protection Force (FPF), Forest department have been struggling to douse the fire so that it may not spread in human habitations. "Commanders of all the three Brigades operating in Nowshera, Sunderbani areas have been requested to provide necessary help in case of any emergency due to forest fire. Army at Narian Brigade HQs have been asked to be on standby in case the forest fire engulf the human habitations in Chattiyar and Chakli areas" said Arshdeep Singh, DFO, Nowshera Forest Division. He added army & police personnel have provided necessary help in dousing the forest fire in Qila-Darhal area under Nowshera Forest Division as some houses came in the grip of forest fire. "The fire was doused at about 1 am with the hectic efforts of the personnel from Army, Police , Forest Department and FPF" said DFO. Senior forest official added as the forest fire broken out in the forests near chattiyar and Chaskli villages which lies on the boundary of Rajouri & Nowshera forest divisions, Forest Block Officer ( BFO) Chingus under Nowshera forest division has been directed to provide all the necessary help to Rajouri forest division officials/personnel. A senior police officer said that the fire broke out under mysterious circumstances this morning in the forests near Chattiyar and Chakli villages and the matter is under investigation. "Reason behind the fire could be negligence on parts of the locals or soaring temperature. Fire tenders, forest staff and police personnel have been rushed to the area and are struggling to douse the fire" he added. Despite repeated attempts Anup Kumar Soni, DFO, Rajouri couldn't be contacted as he was on the spot. However, Block forest officer-BFO (Nowshera) said that it will take another two hours to control the fire and they are taking necessary measures so that fire may not enter their jurisdiction. |
