Govt bulldozes Jammu Darbar, Honda showroom on NHA1 | | | Sumit Sharma
Jammu, May 21: Cracking its whip on the powerful encroachers who had encroached land near highway, the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) today conducted an anti-encroachment drive on Narwal bypass road and removed several structures. According to sources NHA1 officials bulldozed a popular eatery located near a private hospital near Army gate running under the name and style of Jammu Darbar , a car washing centre and a Honda's prominent car showroom as these buildings were raised illegally. The drive was launched a day after the ET published a report about government would bulldoze encroachments on national highway. "The NHAI authorities first completed the official marking of the highway and where-ever they found the private show room owners had crossed the line they demolished the illegal structures," they added. Senior NHAI officials accompanied with civil authorities of state Revenue department strong contingent of police force remained stationed during the special drive. The NHAI authorities first interacted with the owners of the showrooms and briefed them about the nature of drive and the purpose behind the same before removing the illegal structures. No untoward incident was reported and the same was completed peacefully without any major issue involving encroachers and others. |
