PMO takes note of senior mantri's communal remarks | Strict action likely | | Early Times Report Jammu, May 21: A senior BJP minister has defied the standing instructions of Prime Minister Narendra Modi about not stoking any controversy which could lead to discomfort of Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti. Hence, the PMO has taken a serious note of the senior minister's 'communal' statement. The minister made a loaded statement to a delegation of Gujjars who had come to meet him on Friday. The statement had clear and definite overtones of communal polarization. It is the one thing which CM Mehbooba Mufti doesn't want at least not now. The minister had with this statement defied the clear instructions of the PMO which were given to all BJP ministers after Mehbooba Mufti's meeting with the PM Narendra Modi when they re-stitched the alliance. Mehbooba Mufti had complained to Modi that BJP ministers had not acted in a cooperative manner with her late father and CM Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and at times defied him by making statements which added to concern of the late CM. Sources had said that PM had clearly told Mehbooba Mufti that she is free to take any action against any BJP minister if it seems they are defying her. The BJP ministers were also clearly communicated about by the PMO. It's for this reason that there has not been any 'controversial ' statement by any of the BJP ministers after the alliance was re-stitched. "The senior minister has clearly defied the orders of the PMO. He managed to save his ministerial berth last time but this time a strict action could be taken. We may have to set an example out of him," said a senior BJP leader. The media in Kashmir has played up the statement of the BJP minister, and the CM is being targeted both by the opposition as well as by the separatists. The statement adds to the fodder of the opposition for hitting out at PDP for aligning with the PDP. "The CM is disturbed by this statement and she had made her discomfort known to the PMO and she has been assured of an early action in this regard," said a minister. |
