DYSS restrains U-17 Cricket Team from participating National event | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, May 26: Even after a long session of the practice in the hot weather conditions, the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) has not allowed the U-17 and U-14 cricket teams to participate in the national events organized by School Games Federation of India (SGFI) to be held at Indore and Telangana respectively. Sources within department said that the department this morning had relieved the U-14 team and has circulated the order allowing the team to participate in the cricket events organized by SGFI at Telangana but till date no such order i.e. allowing the U-17 team has been released. "Even the higher officials of the department are busy just shifting responsibility to save their face rather than taking cognizance in this regard, sources added. On promised anonymity, parents of U-17 cricket player lamented that the DG Sports Jahangir Mir when asked about the matter put blame on the parents of Kashmir player saying that they are not willing to send their wards to Indore reasons better known to them. However the same query was when asked to a guardian of valley player asked, he shifted the blame on the Jammu people giving a clear indication that the concerned department has created some illusion at itself keeping the reality far away from the parents and their wards who were the part of the U-17 team. Parents lamented whatever the reason is - none but the player are affected and we are not willing to accept it". Commissioner Secretary Sports when contacted, listened keenly the issue of players and assured the redressal of problems at earliest so that no player shall suffer. When contacted Meantime DG Sports also assured that the department has released order for allowing both U-17 and U-14 cricket teams to participate in the tournament. But the uncertainty still hangs over the fate of U-17 players, as even after the comments of the DG Sports, the parents of some U-17 players telephonically informed that they at their own had confirmed this from the department and no such order for U-17 team has been released till now. |
