2 top leaders disappointed with Mirwaiz | Strike politics hits Hurriyat (M) | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, May 26: Yet again, strike politics is likely to hit Mirwaiz led Hurriyat fraction as two of its top leaders have distanced themselves from Mirviaz, the day he started chalking out joint strategy with Yasin Malik and Syed Ali Geelani. Credible sources told Early Times that that Bilal Gani Lone and Prof Abdul Gani Bhat have conveyed their displeasure to Mirwaiz Umar Farooq for not taking them into confidence while deciding the strategy and crafting the alliance with Malik and Geelani for opposing the issue of Sainik colony, separate townships for displaced Kashmir Pandits. "Both the leaders despite repeated requested didn't turn up at Hurriyat headquarters in Raj Bagh for a scheduled meeting on Wednesday, even they didn't bother to attend the repeated call of Chairman," an insider said, suggesting both the leaders, who hold key positions don't acknowledge strike politics. "Both of them don't want people to suffer due to frequent strikes. They had suggested Chairman to initiate direct dialogue with local government for sorting out issues," he added. Bilal Gani lone brother of Cabinet Minister Sajjad Gani Lone crossed over to Pakistan to attend funeral of JKLF Supermo Amanullah Khan. Khan was father-in-law of Social welfare Minister Sajad Gani Lone and had played key role in starting Pakistan sponsored armed struggle in Kashmir way back in nineties. Reportedly, Bhat has shown could shoulder during the visit. "He wasn't even provided a vehicle to travel to Gilgit," sources said, adding this fact has too spoiled the relationship between him and chairman. Prof Abdul Gani Bhat, who had led the united Hurriyat as Chairman is counted most moderate separatist of the valley. Bhat at many occasions has publicly termed the United Nation Security Council Resolutions invalid and effect less. He is strong advocate of dialogue and wants to resolve issues peacefully and amicably. Due to this stand, separatists like chairman of the Democratic Freedom Party and National Front chairman Naeem Ahmad Khan quit the Mirwaiz group and formed Hurriyat Conference Jammu Kashmir. However, they failed to keep the boat sailing and later joined Geelani's Hurriyat. The separatist conglomerate -an alliance over 20 groups -was formed in early 1993 but it split in 2004 between two groups with the moderate group led by Mirwaiz Moulvi Umar Farooq and the hard-line group being headed by Syed Ali Shah Geelani. Mirwaiz Moulvi Umar Farooq then cracked twice that apparently sunk the moderate separate politics, political analysts observe. |
