NGO exposes malpractices at Govt Press Srinagar | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, May 26: Non Government Organisation (NGO) "Anti-Corruption, Anti-Crime Cell and RTI Commission", today made startling revelations about malpractices at Government Press Srinagar. While addressing media men here at Press Club of Jammu, State President of the NGO, Ashok Kumar alleged that Fahrat Hussain Qadri, then General Manager of the Government Press Srinagar has siphoned off funds to the tune of crores of rupees while he was in service. He said that Qadri is facing an FIR under number 121/2013 at KothiBagh Police Station, Srinagar for pilferage of 6500 kilograms of type metal worth Rs. 32 lacs in Government Press Srinagar. "Qadri was charge sheeted for the bungling of type metal but till date, no action has been taken against the accused officer", he said. According to the President of the NGO, in the year 2012-13, the accused officer purchased card sheets claiming their cost Rs. 40 lacs on record and quality 396 GSM (Orient Brand) but in fact the material received was substandard with paper quality of 250 GSM card sheets. "Qadri also outsourced jobs of value more than 40 lacs in Government Press Jammu which include engagement pads, wall calenders, social welfare registers, note pads, file covers at exorbitant rates but he is still enjoying plum posting at Government Press Jammu", Ashok Kumar further said. The accused officer, according to the NGO President, had also purchased and consumed straw board of Rs. 20 lacs for outsourcing without adopting codal procedures whereas his counterpart at Srinagar purchased these boards for the same job having better quality only at the cost of Rs. 4 lacs. Other bungling by the officer include purchasing of a digital printing machine 5 colour instead of 4 colour worth Rs. 1 Crore from his favourite firm by violating all norms. Exposing the misdeeds of the government officer, the NGO President said: "As on date the purchased machines stand idle at the Government Press Jammu whereas the machines purchased at Srinagar at the cost of Rs. 3 lacs only are in use." Other malpractices include illegal promotions, appointments to undeserving candidates by the officer. |
